Cloudbank Books an Imprint of Bedbug Press
AN IMPRINT OF

Bedbug Press publishes its poetry books under the name Cloudbank Books, an imprint of Bedbug Press. Cloudbank authors may be living in the Northwest or anywhere in the U.S. or Canada . We select our authors from submissions to The Rhea and Seymour Gorsline Poetry Competition which has been held annually since 2003. The prize winning book is published in the spring of the year following the contest year. Contest guidelines are available on this web site.

George Estreich's "Textbook Illustrations of the Human Body" was the winner of the 2003 prize, Kevin Craft's “Solar Prominence” was the winner for 2004, and in 2005, two poets shared the prize: Susan Davis for “Gathering Sound,” and Juan Morales for “The Roads and Shortcuts Home.”

Our national contest draws many outstanding manuscripts from all over the country, and, in 2005, we published three other books by poets who submitted their manuscripts to our contest. The first of these was “Night Highway," by Barbara Koons, of Indianapolis, IN. The second was “Red Kimono, Yellow Barn,” by David Hassler, of Kent, OH, and the third is Paulann Petersen's “A Bride of Narrow Escape”.

Since Paulann Petersen lives in Portland, OR, “A Bride of Narrow Escape” becomes the fourth book in our Northwest Poetry Series which consists of books by noteworthy and mainly previously unpublished poets who reside in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, or British Columbia or Alberta, the two western provinces of Canada. The series now includes the following titles:

1. “My Problem with the Truth,” by Chris Anderson
2. “Insects of South Corvallis,” by Charles Goodrich
3. “Out of Town,” by Lex Runciman
4. “A Bride of Narrow Escape,” by Paulann Petersen

We are happy to announce that, beginning with the 2005 poetry contest, all those submitting manuscripts will receive a free copy of Blue Sky, our new annual anthology of poetry, prose, and graphic arts. The 2006 anthology is scheduled to come out in March, 2006.
